Assignments:

This course assumes no previous background in either African studies or history. Through comprehensive reading and writing exercises, it prepares participants for advanced research in both African and World history. Regular attendance and participation at lectures, sections, and film screenings will be noted and contribute significantly to final grades.

There will be two short papers (5-7 pages), a midterm, a map quiz, and final exam.
